On Thursday 20th April, students in Year 11 took part in an interactive six hour Business Studies workshop. The workshop was geared towards preparing the students to effectively complete varied levels of written tasks and financial calculations at GCSE level. Throughout the session students were actively engaged and worked in small groups, they asked perceptive questions and disseminated information to other group members.
On Thursday 12th April, Mr Fagon delivered an assembly to all students at Parkside. The theme of the assembly was to educate students on topics such as faith and belief, racism, misogyny, sexism and prejudice. Various cases from the 20th and 21st centuries were explored such as child Q, Stephen Lawrence, the Rwandan genocide, apartheid and the concentration camps in World War 2. The assembly also highlighted the benefits of diversity and inclusion to the UK economy and its contribution to Britishness.

On Thursday 6th April, parents of students in Year 11 attended the annual Parent Exam Information Evening. During the evening parents received valuable information about their child’s upcoming GCSE examinations. Parents were given the opportunity to ask any questions they may have as this can be a very stressful time for both parents and students.
The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust is delighted to announce the details of the Year 11 Prom, taking place on the evening of Friday 14th July 2023. The event will celebrate the end of the GCSE examinations and will be a time to mark the end of Key Stage Four for our Year 11 cohort.
Patience, trust, teamwork and communication were the words echoed this afternoon by the Royal Navy. Year 10 and 11 students were actively engaged in a STEM workshop provided by two members of the Royal Navy Team. The afternoon was divided into two sections, a web challenge where students had to go through each section of the web created by ropes without touching it and a construction segment where students built chairs and boxes using the providing materials.
These activities gave students the ability to demonstrate resilience, patience and see the importance of being critical thinkers. Both staff and students who were present were intrigued by the activities and look forward to future partnerships with the Royal Navy.
