  • Year 10 STEM Challenge

    On Friday 17th February, students in Year 10 took part in the STEM challenge final by putting their models to the test! The task was to elevate a cup off the ground to above the height of the table using wind power. Congratulations to Michael for fully elevating the cup and also to team Corey for getting the cup half way.

    Perseverance and resilience were the key to this task.

  • Year 9 Assembly – Oracy

    On Wednesday 15th February, students in Year 9 presented the whole college assembly. The subject was Oracy and the importance of Oral communication. Having strong oracy skills means that you have the ability to structure your thoughts in a way that can be understood by others by having a choice of vocabulary to support what you are expressing. Year 9 students are striving to become stronger, more effective communicators as they realise that they are the future of Parkside!

  • February Enrichment Week

    Monday 11th to Friday 15th February was Enrichment week at Parkside Studio College. During the course of the week students in Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in Science, Maths English, Business and ICT Intervention Sessions. Options staff also invited students in to catch up with coursework and to go through work which they may not be too sure about. Overall the Enrichment Week proved to be successful and students involved provided positive feedback.

  • Year 9 and 10 Brunel University STEM Trip

    On Tuesday 31st January, students in Years 9 and 10 visited Brunel University to participate in a STEM event organised by the Global Challengers Group. The group presented the core underlining issues affecting the world according to planetary health, global innovation, security and social cohesion. The students were reminded through various activities with robots and practical building resources that the multifaceted, evolving problems of the world require innovative solutions based on transdisciplinary research and application.
