Respecting All Families Assembly

The theme of our whole college assembly was ‘Respecting all Families.’ The assembly focused on the idea that families can look very different, and that all families deserve respect and understanding. It explained why schools often use the phrase “parents, guardians and carers” instead of just “mum and dad,” recognising that not every child lives in the same type of family.
Students learned about a range of family structures, including single-parent families, adoptive families, same-sex parents, and blended families. The assembly emphasised that what makes a family important is not how it is formed, but the love, care, and support shared between the people in it.
Overall, the message encouraged children to appreciate their own families while showing kindness, acceptance, and inclusion towards others.
