Promoting Safety on Public Transport
On Tuesday, 10th September, students had the privilege of attending an insightful assembly conducted by the British Transport Police. The session focused on empowering students with essential strategies to ensure their safety and make positive choices while using public transport. The assembly was led by PC Mark and our dedicated Safer Schools Officer, PC Frampton, who shared valuable tips and advice. Here are the key strategies discussed:
- Stay Alert: Always keep an eye on your surroundings and avoid distractions such as mobile phones or loud music. Being aware of your environment can help you spot potential dangers early.
- Travel in Groups: Whenever possible, travel with friends or family. There is safety in numbers, and traveling in groups can deter potential threats.
- Keep Valuables Hidden: Avoid displaying expensive items like phones, jewelry, or other valuables. Keeping these items out of sight reduces the risk of theft.
- Know Your Route: Plan your journey in advance and familiarize yourself with the stops and stations along the way. Knowing your route can help you stay calm and confident during your travels.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you see something unusual or suspicious, do not hesitate to inform the authorities. Reporting such activities can help prevent incidents and keep everyone safe.
The assembly was not only informative but also engaging, with students participating in discussions and asking questions. The practical advice provided by PC Mark and PC Frampton will undoubtedly help our students feel more secure and confident while using public transport. We extend our heartfelt thanks to PC Mark and PC Frampton for delivering such an impactful and educational assembly. Their dedication to student safety is truly commendable, and we look forward to more such informative sessions in the future. Stay safe and make positive choices!
