Drug Testing in Science! 20/12/21
As part of the curriculum for Science, Year 9 students have been studying drug testing and development. The students were put into groups and were tasked with modelling the development of a medicinal drug. They had to give the drug a name, design their product’s logo, demonstrate its efficacy, state its dosage and toxicity, and describe how it was tested in the clinical and pre-clinical trial.
Each group delivered a presentation about the drug they developed and explained to the class whether the drug was made in the laboratory, extracted from a plant or derived from a micro-organism. Additionally, they had to describe whether the clinical trial is blind or double blind and what percentage or ration of both groups would receive the placebo.
The students had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge about drugs and how they are produced. Well done Year 9!
