Anxiety Awareness Workshop 2/11/20
On Wednesday 21st October, Zoe Kattah from the NHS delivered a workshop to Year 9 students to raise awareness of the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. The purpose of the workshop was to educate the students on mental health issues and build their awareness of the simple things they can do to proactively support themselves through both mental and physical methods. Zoe Kattah shared her personal experiences with the students in a bid to create a supportive mental wellbeing culture, and some students participated in the discussion by sharing some of their experiences.
Students walked away with a clear understanding of what mental wellbeing is and how they can respond effectively to minimise the risk of a mental health episode. The workshop built their confidence in their ability to maintain and build their mental wellbeing, with an important reminder that it is fine to experience feelings of anxiety, ‘it is okay to not be okay’, and that they are not alone.
