Construction at Parkside 20/01/20
Year 11 Construction students at Parkside are currently working on making a picture frame using the appropriate knowledge and skills they have learned over the past two years. Students used timber to design and create their photo frames, cutting it into the required parts after completing a risk assessment on the equipment they would be using.
They then used their knowledge of different types of joints to determine which ones would be ideal when making the frame. The students worked both independently and with the support of staff to facilitate the completion of their project. With their improved understanding gained over the past two years, the students are able to apply the same skills to home maintenance, allowing them to accomplish simple home repairs whilst building their current skills to further acquire a career in carpentry and joinery.
