The facilities are among the very best in the area and equipped with industry standard resources. Parkside provides a number of authentic learning spaces, modelled on workplace environments, which reflect the nature of the courses on offer. The pathways are taught in bespoke learning environments on campus and include:
The Training Kitchen
This new state-of-the-art training kitchen inspired by some of the world’s top restaurants, is the place where students learn their catering craft. The kitchen includes industry standard equipment as used in catering establishments around the world. Complemented by the restaurant, the hospitality suite offers both front and back of house experiences.
The Construction Area
The construction workshop area provides the space and equipment to develop a host of skills including carpentry and joinery, dry lining, plastering and decorating plus block work, brick work, roofing and plumbing. Students are able to learn their trade before going into the workplace.
The Media Suite
The television studio awaits students who choose to study Creative Media Production at Parkside. These facilities have been designed and equipped with the help of experts to ensure that the skills and techniques learnt equip young people with the experience required to thrive in the ever changing media industry.
This fully functioning salon is an integral part of the provision, hosting hairdressers, barbers and beauty therapists. This offers students first-hand experience in terms of colouring, cutting and styling hair, plus a range of other beauty treatments.
Health and Social Care
By using established links with Rosedale Nursery and Rosedale Primary School, for example, students have experience of working with young children under the close supervision of fully trained nursery and primary school staff. Through partnerships with external stakeholders and local businesses, Parkside students gain experience of working with the community, learning all aspects of the care industry using links with other local organisations.
The Sports Centre
Indoor and outdoor, Parkside has modern sporting facilities which allow students to practice and improve sport. Students gain experience of how to organise and deliver sporting events, how to manage sports facilities and how to deliver specialist coaching and classes to the local community.
Beyond this, the internal space provides classrooms to deliver the core curriculum and a number of areas suitable for project based learning, which can be sub-divided and reconfigured for full class and small group teaching, as appropriate.
